Happy Resurrection Sunday!
Hey guys! After researching the origins of "Easter" I am now officially calling it "Resurrection Sunday".

Since I was half-blinded myself by that sun, I can honestly say that I did not see him. But they turned out great! Ya'll look awesome! Aww.. aren't they sweet? The Happy Couple.

I was absolutely floored by Rachel's haircut, and I think the dress looks great, I was so proud to be seen with my beautiful wife today, and we had a wonderful afternoon eating at a jewish deli downtown "noshville" and cruising around the city, not to mention ordering pizza and watching our newly aquired Narnia DVD. Good DAY baby!
Rachel, I loved the pics and the new "do"! I agree with Brad too, the dress is beautiful. You both look great. I sure did miss you guys this Easter. We had a tough one here without family but I knew there was too much going on to try to get a visit in this time. Sure hope you can send the DVD of the skit...I was praying for you all during your service time!

I liked the hair too! You looked really nice yesterday and very grown up if that makes sense. Very mature looking.

In regards to the Chronicles of Narnia: First, you really should read The Last Battle if you hope to understand the Series as a whole. It puts a different spin on the whole thing. Second, when Aslan makes mention of the "deeper magic" to Lucy and Susan, I believe he is taking about a force bigger than God at work. In Dante's Paradiso, the main character describes meeting God, and then seeing that the Trinity is really a physical manifestation of a larger, impersonal force that is truly the creative force and guide for the universe.
Another question: You described God and Satan as being two forces. God, I assume, is the force of good. Satan then is the force of evil. They are seperate forces. Since Satan was created by God, would the attributes of Satan come from God himself, as God is the creator of all things? God is good, though, so how could he create something that is evil? If God cannot create something that is evil, where did the evil attributes of Satan come from? Is it possible that the forces of good and evil are impersonal? That God and Satan are merely personalizations of these forces?
Read the Bible. Satan was orginally Lucifer [the angel of light].. angels were created with free will [like humans] and they had to choose to worship God and serve Him. Lucifer coveted the power of God and sought to overthrow Him and become God. He managed to convince a 1/3 of the angels that God had created to follow him in that endevor. They all had the free will to choose.. and they chose to walk away from God rather than walk with God. For this, God banished them from Heaven, for God is perfect and sinless and He cannot have sin in His presence. Lucifer became Satan and his followers [demons] were banished from heaven to cower on the earth. Satan has no power but the power of deception. He takes the good things that God created and twists them into evil. He is the father of lies. Today, Satan is still trying to overthrow God by deceiving people, God's most wonderful and precious creation. Satan is nothing but a pretender and a liar. Trying to be something that he is not and never can be. God has all power, but because He has give each of us free will and the ability to decide things for ourselves, in the end, it all comes down to personal choice. Good or Evil. Truth or Lies. God or Satan.

Anonymous, while well-intentioned I'm sure and told the story very well, you failed to really address the question.
I don't claim to have this all figured out. You've raised some very interesting points, and ones I don't have answers for. But that's ok! If I never have a question, I never try to find the answer. And isn't that what life is all about?

Heh. anonymous people, what do they know (don't even know who they are apparently). the point is, EVERYTHING that God created, is a manifestation of He Himself; therefore, how, if God is a perfect good being, did he create anything that even had the option of evil? hmm? how? If God had no inkling(is that actually a word? it sounds better than it looks.) of evil, everything would just be good. but then, without evil, how would we recognize what is good?God is not good or evil, or perfect, but is everything. God is imperfect as we are...or else we would not be so. And, having such free will as we are accounted with having, Satan has no power in directing our thoughts, our actions, or our lives, for we have control over ourselves. Being not of the christian faith, but still believing in a God,I think perhaps...every now and then...certain aggressively-narrow minded bible thumpers (*ahem* people too afraid of even showing their own identity) should space themselves from their rigid interpretations and find peace with God within themselves away from the pages of a book. He surrounds us...broaden your search. Away from that...I LOVE Rachel's new haircut, she's adorable. (mature, and adorable, there...mixed together you're your own age again. lol.) You look beautiful and so happy standing next to your logger-man.
Hey now people. We're all trying to understand the world and what's in it. So by all means let's not point fingers. Nothing wrong with a little discussion. Anonymous meant well I'm sure and just laid out the Fall of Lucifer from Isaiah 12. I know that not everyone believes the Bible is divine, but even if you don't believe the Bible exclusively, everyone's ideas is influenced from SOMEWHERE. You can't knock the Bible when you hold on to another's teachings yourself.
I agree Becky, Satan has no power over our lives... other than what we give him. You're right, God does surround us! But in the Bible, I don't find myself constricted to an interpretation. I feel free to explore great mysteries, because of my relationship with God. It's like sitting at Daddy's feet and having Him explain things to you and tell you stories. The older you get, the more you understand of what He's trying to tell you.
Hard to explain. But I am not threatened by other people's opinions. It excites me to be... probed and prodded? I guess that's the right terminology I'm looking for. I don't like being comfortable in what I think I know, but I like being pushed to find out more and more and understand what I didn't before.
I am pondering all these things in my heart. You've all probed and prodded me quite well. :-)

Kasey, I was just messing with you, you didn't offend me at all. I just can't help but twisting what people say into something that can be taken wrong, not because I take it wrong, but because it's funny to think about. At Krystal a couple weeks ago, the cashier asked me if I was a teacher. I automatically thought, "Why, do I look like an old fuddy duddy teacher person??" I said, yes, Sunday School! Why? She said I have a teacher voice. :-)

I wasn't tryig to be hateful, and I'm sorry if I seemed that way. Most of you don't know me, but Rachel does..and I'm not a hateful person, lol. I just wish people would be more open minded. Anonymous, while perhaps well meaning (I know you look for the best, Rachel)...seemed really angry/offended!! It struck me as strange that someone so involved in the bible and God would be so angry...I don't think anyone who can get that angry over someone else's beliefs has found peace with God. Maybe that's just me though, I'm pretty weird. And I'm sorry if I did offend anyone, I don't mean to.
You're so sweet Becky. :-) I dunno if we can really tell if Anonymous was angry or not. That's the hard thing about writing as opposed to talking to someone, it's so easy to take things the wrong way when you can't hear tone of voice, or see facial expressions. So let's just give this person the benefit of a doubt. Assuming they weren't angry, the only thing they did wrong was fail to address the question. And, knowing my brother, the "Read the Bible" comment was unneccesary. Believe you me, Jon knows the Bible. We were only raised in the same household, same parents, same churches, same discussions around the house. Yeah, he knows.
